This site sets a small number of cookies, and this page says plainly which and why. There is no advertising network here and nothing is sold on.

What is set

Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies, _ga and one beginning _ga_, which between them recognise your browser across visits so we can tell whether fifty people read a guide once or one person read it fifty times. They hold a randomly generated identifier, not your name or address. Advertising storage is switched off in our configuration, so nothing here is used to build an advertising profile or shared for targeting.

We ran analytics without cookies for two days. It recorded nothing: Google discards visits from cookieless sessions unless a site is very large, so the choice was cookies or no measurement at all.

Cloudflare Web Analytics runs alongside it and sets no cookies. It counts page views at the network edge without identifying anyone, and it is the figure we trust more, because it is harder for automated traffic to inflate.

Your theme choice and your saved designs are kept in your own browser's local storage. They never reach us, and clearing your browser data removes them.

Web push notifications, if you have ever agreed to them, use a service worker. You can revoke that at any time in your browser's site settings.

Turning it off

Blocking cookies for this site in your browser settings stops the analytics cookies, and nothing on the site will stop working. Google also publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Analytics everywhere. Any reputable tracker blocker will do the same.
